The Mac Attack glides into its third year as The Year of The Snake is underway
Release date: Feb 12
Price: Expected to be around 120 USD
Nike paid homage to OG sports rebels when it launched the Mac Attack in 2023, pitting John McEnroe against Travis Scott in a now iconic set of imagery. This was made even more remarkable when a leaked video made its impact on the footwear world, showing the two stars arguing about the sneaker’s name. Thankfully that drama seems to be behind us now, and this retro model entered its third year with the newly announced Nike Mac Attack “Year of the Snake” colorway.
Design
This signature sneaker will appeal particularly to tennis fans, staying true to its original simplified palette and refined style, which are maintained through a mostly white palette. But it does not fail to live up to its name, featuring a snakeskin pattern on the heel cup, brought up with rarely used color accents in peach and teal, which add a touch of vitality to this new drop from the Swoosh.
This is one of several sneakers in the Year of the Snake collection. Some have already dropped and more upcoming releases are expected to take place over a short period of time.
Performance
Inspired by the OG of rebellion on the court, John McEnroe, the Nike Mac Attack Year of the Snake manages to achieve style while not compromising on performance.
The Nike Mac Attack is famous for being bottom heavy, providing stability and a heavy rubber sole that holds the wearer’s foot to the ground, reducing the risk of the foot rolling from side to side. It’s durable, originally designed for hard courts, but now tested by the many who have worn it on other surfaces. The textile stitching on the forefoot allows for more breathing.
The other key features are: Leather in the upper, foam midsole and a rubber outsole.
