Nike’s bringing the heat for Opening Day with a fresh Kobe 6 Protro drop that reps LA in a big way. The “Game Royal” colorway, aka the “Dodgers”, is straight-up tribute mode, celebrating the start of the 2025 MLB season.

Design

You already know what this colorway is about: royal blue with white hits, just like the Dodgers jerseys. The snakeskin-textured upper is a reminder of fresh starts, just like a snake shedding its skin. It keeps that signature Kobe 6 energy, while the clean white Swoosh and midsoles keep it grounded. Kobe’s number 8 adds a hit of red on the heel. These work with athletic wear or streetwear fits, especially when you’re leaning into outdoor clothing vibes or repping your favorite team.

Performance

On the diamond or the court, these stick with the Protro formula: Zoom Air units, lightweight materials, and a low-profile fit that keeps you fast on your feet. It's still low, sleek and fast like you remember, but Nike upgraded the traction for even better performance

How to style your Nike Kobe 6 Protro “Dodgers”

The royal blue goes hard with neutral fits. Think all-white, off-white or earth tones to keep the focus on the texture. If you want to mix them into your boutique clothing shop finds, wear something with a little texture or pattern to match the vibe.

The full drop

The Kobe 6 shoe is just one part of the Nike Kobe “Game Royal” Collection. If you want a full look on the field, wear them with the rest of the items in this drop: baseball gloves, and a jersey. Feel like looking the part on the Aurora reservoir, or by the pool?  Make a statement with the slides that are also part of this collection.
What is Protro

Protro stands for performance retro, and it came straight from Kobe’s mindset: take something iconic and make it better. When Nike first pitched the idea of re-releasing his old kicks, Kobe wasn’t into just bringing back the classics for the sake of it. He wanted them to feel like the originals on the outside but perform like the best shoes out today.

Every Protro model keeps the original design details but gets tuned up with serious upgrades. Think lighter materials, better cushioning, stronger traction and more durable builds overall. The changes are subtle, but intentional. Just like Kobe’s game, nothing’s in there by accident.

For Nike designers, it’s all about honoring Kobe’s obsession with detail and performance. And for hoopers and sneakerheads, it means you get that throwback vibe without sacrificing modern tech.

Where to buy

Like many good things in life, these will be rare to find at first. They have already dropped with UNDEFEATED stores in LA and Tokyo, but don’t stress if you missed it, a wider release through Nike and partner clothing stores is coming later in April 2025, so stay locked in. They will retail at $175.
